Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about InsiderTrack, our data, and our ML pipeline.
About InsiderTrack
What is InsiderTrack?
InsiderTrack is a platform that automatically tracks insider trading activity from SEC Form 4 filings, enriches that data with real-time market information, runs machine learning analysis, and delivers actionable intelligence through a professional dashboard and email alerts.
What are insider trades and why do they matter?
Insider trades are stock transactions made by corporate insiders — executives (CEO, CFO, COO), directors, and anyone who owns 10% or more of a company's stock. These trades are legally required to be reported to the SEC via Form 4 filings. They matter because insiders have deep knowledge of their company's operations.
Is tracking insider trades legal?
Absolutely. SEC Form 4 filings are public records. Tracking publicly disclosed insider transactions is completely legal and is a common practice among institutional investors, hedge funds, and informed retail traders.
How is InsiderTrack different from free SEC EDGAR access?
SEC EDGAR provides raw XML filings across thousands of pages. InsiderTrack automates the entire process: ingestion, parsing, deduplication, market data enrichment, ML scoring, and alerting. We turn raw regulatory data into actionable intelligence.
Data & Accuracy
Where does the data come from?
Insider trading data comes directly from SEC EDGAR's public filing system — the same source used by institutional investors. Market data comes from Alpaca's real-time feed. We don't use synthetic or simulated data.
How quickly do new trades appear?
Our ingestion pipeline runs daily and processes new Form 4 filings within minutes of their availability on EDGAR. From filing to your dashboard: typically under 5 minutes.
How many tickers and trades do you track?
We monitor 8,000+ tickers across all SEC EDGAR Form 4 filings. The number of daily trades varies with market activity, but we process over 1,000 filings on average trading days.
What is the ML prediction accuracy?
Our multi-model ensemble generates signals based on six dimensions. Each prediction includes a confidence score. We provide transparency into each signal dimension so you can make informed decisions.
Account & Billing
How much does InsiderTrack cost?
InsiderTrack offers two plans: $29/month (monthly billing) or $299/year (annual billing — save $49). Both plans include full access to all features.
Is there a free trial?
You can create an account for free to explore the platform. Full data access requires a subscription. No credit card is needed to sign up.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes, you can cancel at any time. You'll retain access through the end of your current billing period. No cancellation fees.
Do you offer refunds?
We offer a 7-day money-back guarantee. If you're not satisfied within the first 7 days, contact us for a full refund.
Technical
What ML models does InsiderTrack use?
We use a multi-model ensemble approach combining RSI technical analysis, price momentum scoring, volume ratio analysis, sentiment aggregation, and insider clustering detection. A weighted composite produces the final signal.
What is insider clustering?
Insider clustering detects when multiple insiders at the same company are buying or selling around the same time. When a CEO, CFO, and two directors all buy shares within a short window, that cluster signal is stronger than any individual trade.
What market data sources do you use?
We use Alpaca for real-time stock prices, RSI calculations, price changes, and volume data. All market data is fetched at rate-limited intervals to ensure reliability.
Is my data secure?
Yes. We use industry-standard encryption for all data in transit and at rest. Payment processing is handled by Stripe — we never store your credit card information.
